HISTORY

Stony Lonesome School

On the west side of the road, partially hidden by trees and vines are the remains of the 1884 Stony Lonesome school where the future military general Frederick Funston taught after he failed the entrance exam into West Point. A plaque honoring Funston was placed here by the DAR in 1928.
