In the 1960s Floyd and Norma Souder began preserving the area's history by creating a pioneer village. They re-created historic buildings and added a one-room schoolhouse from nearby Kingman County and 1880s Santa Fe depots from Cheney and Garden Plain. Artifacts and historical information from the area are displayed inside the buildings. Although Floyd and Norma are gone, the pioneer village continues to serve its purpose in this country setting.
