Seth Hays Home

Council Grove, KS | Morris County

Seth M. Hays, the great-grandson of Daniel Boone, was a trader, rancher, and founder of and first settler in Council Grove. Hays built this brick house in 1867 and lived here with his adopted daughter Kittie and his servant, Sarah Taylor, who everyone called 'Aunt Sally.' Outside the home are bronze statues of an Indian girl and of Seth and Kittie. (NRHP)
