At the Pete Felten sculpted prairie dog, go 1¼ miles south on K-261 past the park office and over the railroad gorge to arrive at the prairie dog colony. Here black-tailed prairie dogs, named for their black-tipped tails and dog-like bark, scurry amid their dirt mounds from which they watch for predators. State park entrance charge. Cabins available, reservations required.
