In commemoration of this significant site on the Oregon-California Trail, Ernest White sculpted the bronze oxen team hitched to a covered wagon that you'll see in this park. Between 1842 and 1870 more than 300,000 pioneers stopped at this campground, famous for its springs, on their way west. Interpretive signs provide the area's historic background, and you can walk by Rock Creek to see where wagons forded. A sidewalk trail leads you to the graves of emigrants who lost their lives here to cholera.
