Tessa Wendling returned to Halstead from Chicago with the bug to open a small business in her hometown—but, it turns out, opening Daphne Mae Cafe wasn’t enough. She went on to renovate the limestone-walled building next door and open Ruby’s Lounge. With a pressed-tin ceiling inside and a welcoming patio outside, it’s a classy spot for a handcrafted drink and small bites from the cafe.
