CITY HALL

Paola City Hall and Bell

Paola, KS | Miami County

A product of yet another George Washburn design, the two-story, red-brick City Hall was completed in 1909. As in the early days, the building is still home to city government and to the police and fire departments. The 400-pound bell that now stands on the grounds once occupied City Hall's cupola. When a fire was reported, the bell rang a certain number of times to designate in which district the fire was located. (RHKP)
