The graves of early Indians and descendants of Baptiste Peoria are found on the north side of the drive in the Oak Grove addition. The gravestone for Alex Young is one row west of Peoria's descendants. Young's epitaph tells us that he built the steamship Lady Elgin that sank in Lake Michigan in 1860. All 400 passengers on board drowned.
