Mulvane Historical Museum

Mulvane, KS | Sumner County

A 1910 red-brick Santa Fe depot is home to this museum, which exhibits local history and the compelling story of Laura Cobb. Cobb, a 1910 graduate of Mulvane High School, became a navy nurse and was stationed in Manila in 1942 when the Japanese captured the island of Luzon. While in captivity, she was chief nurse at the Los Baños prison camp. After 37 months the more than 2,000 prisoners were rescued by a U.S. Army Airborne task force.
