During the Civil War, Union soldiers camped on the hillside that is now this historic and attractive park. Pioneer structures and artifacts help visitors imagine what life was like in the early days of the city. A 1915 bungalow, log cabin, 1888 depot, 1864 schoolhouse, barn, and windmill are part of the complex. You'll also see a gazebo, which marks a 1914 mineral well that spurred the construction of a short-lived sanitarium. A building at the park's west end houses an 1840s bandwagon left in town by a circus in 1865.
