A new building gave museum staff room to showcase both McPherson history and the museum's art collection. Exhibits feature the McPherson Globe Refiners basketball team that won the first-ever gold medal in that sport at the 1936 Olympic Games; McPherson as the Light Capital of Kansas; H.H. Nininger, the "Father of Modern Meteoritics"; and an original Nipper dog (RCA Victor's mascot). The art collection ranges from American Indian pottery to works by Anna Larkin, court sculptor for the king of Sweden.
