This 100-mile drive from Lake Scott on U.S. 83 to Oakley and then west to Sharon Springs on U.S. 40 takes you through chalk formations, buttes, and valleys all buried under the sea 80 million years ago. Buffalo, American Indians, pioneers, early military, Wild West characters, and paleontologists were deeply connected to this prodigious and legendary land.
