8 WONDERS OF KANSAS GEOGRAPHY FINALIST

Hiking Trails at Elk City Lake

Montgomery County, Kansas

The nationally recognized Elk River Hiking Trail stretches 15 miles one-way from the west edge of the lake dam to the U.S. 160 bridge on Elk River. This trail offers stunning views of the lake and the dramatic rock formations. The first step onto the nearly three-mile Table Mound Hiking Trail is a descent between two boulders, but then the trail becomes a moderate trek through scenic ravines and forests and across small creeks. The trail was a finalist in the 8 Wonders of Kansas Geography contest.
