ARCHITECTURE

Hartford Collegiate Institute

Hartford, KS | Lyon County

In 1861 this two-story native stone building opened as a branch of Baker University, whose main campus is in Baldwin City (Douglas County). Classes were taught here until 1875, when the institute closed. This building is the only vestige of the college and is now a community meeting space. (NRHP)
