Fort Scott Post Office Art

Fort Scott, KS | Bourbon County

Border Gateways, a 1937 oil on canvas by Oscar E. Berninghaus, depicts pioneers in covered wagons coming into the newly established Kansas Territory in 1854. This WPA Section artwork, although inside the post office, is not publicly accessible. The PO staff would love to show it to you, though. Just ask at the window. (8 Wonders of Kansas - Art)
