Nearly 140 years ago Fred Harvey established a line of restaurants to accommodate Santa Fe railway passengers. In 1877 the Harvey House in Florence became the first to offer lodging along with its dining facilities. Only a third of the original building remains, but displays capture the essence of this unique business that operated until 1900. Groups may make reservations for a Harvey House meal served by Harvey Girls. Call ahead. (NRHP)
