Elgin Black Dog Trail Campsite Marker

The sign here marks one of the Osage campsites on the hunting route, known as the Black Dog Trail. Beginning in 1803 Chief Black Dog and his Osage tribe traveled through this area twice a year on buffalo hunting trips. Note: The sign was missing as of October 2025. If you see it has been replaced, please contact us at info@kansassampler.org.
