
A sign at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 701 Frazier, states that St. Paul's formed the earliest Lutheran congregation in Kansas, dating to 1857. The first church building, moved from its original site at 901 Elm, stands today at 314 Broadway. Now known as Historical Shrine Church, it is recognized as the first permanent Lutheran church built on Kansas soil.
