HISTORIC THEATRE

Doric Theatre & Oscar's Lounge

Elkhart, KS | Morton County

New life has been breathed into this historic building, which opened as a vaudeville theater in 1918 and later added silent films, then “talkies,” before closing in the 1980s. In 2015, the multistate Mitchell Theatre chain—owned by a local farm family and headquartered in Elkhart—restored and reopened the venue. First-run movies are shown on weekends, with independent films screened on weeknights.

Before the show, head upstairs to the former projection room and balcony, now Oscar’s Lounge, for beer, wine, or cocktails. Or just come for the drinks and finger foods to enjoy in the upstairs or downstairs patio.
