Curry Grave

Winchester, KS | Jefferson County

You'll find the grave of famed artist John Steuart Curry (1897- 1946) in the Reformed Presbyterian Church Cemetery off K-192. The Curry family's large upright glacial stone stands about 500 feet north of the entrance. Following the controversy over the state capitol murals, Curry returned to his home in Wisconsin where he died a few years later, purportedly of a broken heart.
