Showcased inside are the histories of the Quiviran Indians, Coronado's trek through the area, the Santa Fe Trail, and the settling of Rice County. Spanish explorer Francisco Vásquez de Coronado met up with the Quivirans during his 1541 exploration into this region, but these American Indians likely had been in this area for hundreds of years prior. Marvelous exhibits include replicated Quiviran grass huts, interpretations of the natives' daily rituals, and descriptions of the entourage that accompanied Coronado during his search for gold.
