SANTA FE TRAIL

Coolidge Santa Fe Trail Marker

Coolidge, KS | Hamilton County

Set on the actual trail, this DAR marker is the westernmost indicator of the 'mountain route' in Kansas. The 'mountain route' was a slightly northwestward course of the Santa Fe Trail and followed the Arkansas River through Kansas to Bent's Fort in Colorado. A thousand residents once populated this thriving border town that was incorporated in 1886. It's quieter now.
