HISTORIC HOME

Carroll Mansion

Leavenworth, KS | Leavenworth County

All the original furniture has been replaced because in 1964, Ella Carroll, the last Carroll to live in this home, announced at church that she was leaving the mansion and people could come get anything from the house they wanted. After the last item was removed, Ella gave the key and the house deed to the Leavenworth Historical Society. The home is one of the finest mansions in the state open for tours and is a pristine example of an elite lifestyle. Completed in 1882, it features finery at every turn, from the parquet floor pattern to the carved woodwork. It's also fun to look for its subtle dog theme (ask about it when you visit). Images from the famous Everhard photo collection are a tasteful addition throughout the home. Admission charge. (NRHP)
