Beautiful, clean modern lines and curves of two art deco schools, designed by architect Lorentz Schmidt, make them worth your while to drive by. Built as New Deal projects in 1939, Jefferson Grade School, 300 S. Jefferson Ave., and Lincoln Grade School, 700 N. Jefferson Ave., still stand, though are now both closed.
