In Nebraska, go 8 miles west on U.S. 34 to Haigler, then, back into Kansas, continue 22 miles southeast on K-27 to U.S. 36. This breathtakingly beautiful area of rough terrain and deep canyons that stretches across the corners of Kansas and Nebraska is an anomaly in the High Plains. Water carved the rugged landscape into the wind-blown loess deposits that blanketed this area. Dominated by abundant yucca, sage, and native buffalo grass, the Breaks are simply so different from any other part of the state, you will be delighted and amazed. Dry weather roads. We recommend the self-guided driving tour brochure available at the Cheyenne County Museum. A finalist for the 8 Wonders of Kansas - Geography.
