Amelia Earhart Hangar Museum

Atchison, KS | Atchison County
Exhibits here capture the daring spirit that led Amelia Earhart to become the first woman to fly solo nonstop across the Atlantic Ocean in 1932. Through photographs, personal artifacts, and interactive displays, the museum brings to life not only her historic flights but also the determination and grit that defined her career.

A highlight of the museum is the striking full-scale replica of the Lockheed Electra 10E, the aircraft Earhart piloted during her final, ill-fated attempt to circumnavigate the globe in 1937. For an even more vivid experience, a virtual reality exhibit recreates her 1932 Atlantic crossing, allowing guests to step into the cockpit and feel the tension and exhilaration of that groundbreaking journey.

Beyond the cockpit, the museum explores Earhart’s life on the ground as well — as a best-selling author, fashion innovator, and a passionate advocate for women’s rights and the advancement of aviation.
