Iola can legitimately claim it is home to the nation's largest downtown squareβtwo blocks by two blocks. The 1959 Allen County courthouse holds center stage, and surrounding features include a beautiful brick veterans memorial wall and the clock tower preserved from the original 1904 courthouse. Since 1876 locals have been gathering around the old gazebo for band concerts, which are still enjoyed every Thursday evening in June and July.
