"Men and Wheat" is the title of this 1940 Section artwork, an oil on canvas by Joe Jones that portrays two farmers harvesting wheat. A sign outside the post office tells an interesting backstory'after the mural was installed the local International Harvester dealer complained that the green equipment was an advertisement for John Deere. So the artist repainted the combine International red, and on the green tractor he painted his own name as the logo. (NRHP) (8 Wonders of Kansas Art)
