Exhibits include compelling images of early Leavenworth from the famous Everhard photo collection, uniforms once belonging to General Colin Powell, and displays focusing on the buffalo soldier, Leavenworth's impressive black heritage, and the nation's African American history. On the lawn is a bronze bust memorial to Cathay Williams, the only female buffalo soldier.
