
El Zarape had its beginnings as the first Mexican restaurant in Garden City when Manuel and Phyllis Garcia, Sr. opened the doors in 1967. Family recipes are the staple of this long-time restaurant and are still in use today. Miguel and Alin Rodriguez, great-grandchildren of Manuel and Phyllis, along with other family members, continue to operate the restaurant and distribute Mama Garcia's famous salsa, which is sold in Dillons and Wal-Mart and many locally owned stores throughout the state.
