HISTORIC BUILDING

Elmdale Historic Buildings

Elmdale, KS | Chase County

Although abandoned, some buildings still stand, lonely but defiant. A cornerstone of the native limestone City Hall states that it was built in 1936 by the WPA. The smooth stone face of the 1898 Peoples Exchange Bank appears at odds with the building's exterior side walls. On Campbell, the two-story limestone school, minus its bell tower, was constructed in 1895. Nearby is a 1915 red-brick auditorium.
