Chicken Annie's Original

When Annie's husband, coal miner Charley Pichler, suffered a disabling accident in Yale Mine No.13 in 1933, she had to find work to support their family. In 1934 Annie started selling fried chicken out of her home, with side dishes of German potato salad, German coleslaw, a strip of green pepper, and a slice of tomato. That was the beginning of this now-famous restaurant. It is owned today by Annie's grandchildren, who are still serving delicious fried chicken dinners.
