A narrow blacktop back road takes you on a scenic route from Cottonwood Falls to the Chase State Lake entrance. To find the falls, from the dam on the lake's north end, walk ¼ mile to the east end of the dam and follow the primitive trail north to the falls. Depending on rainfall, when the water is flowing these step-ladder falls might be the most scenic in the state.
