St. Bede’s Church

7344 Drought. A single spire acts as a magnet drawing you to St. Bede’s Church. St. Bede’s stands on the highest point in the area and is surrounded by cropland and a small cluster of buildings. It’s worth going out of your way to see the interior of this 1915 Gothic church, built of brick with limestone trim. The stained-glass windows from Munich, Germany, are fine examples of 19th-century art, and the painted ceiling is breathtaking. Notice the sounding board (looks like an umbrella) above the ambo. Open daily.
