Rock Creations
309 S. Hanover. You’ll do a double take when you see these unusual rock creations, which include a small castle-like structure with turrets, parapets, and windows; a rock birdbath perched precariously on stones; large petrified wood pieces; and a tall slender stone containing petroglyphs. The mystery is that no one knows when or why they were built. One theory is that a local man had always promised his wife he would build her a castle. However, he couldn’t afford a real one so he settled for this little creation. It was possibly built around 1920. You’re welcome to look and photograph; please don’t touch.
