More Fort Riley Monuments
Among the fort’s many memorials is the obelisk (Sheridan and Henry) dedicated to those who died supporting the global war on terrorism. A plaque (Sheridan and Henry) recognizes the Ninth Armored Division’s feat during WWII. The 1923 Ogden monument (Brick Row and Huebner) pays tribute to Major E.A. Ogden, the “Father of Fort Riley.” The memorial (Sheridan and Huebner) to the cavalrymen who died at the 1890 Wounded Knee massacre was erected by soldiers who had survived the tragedy.
