McPherson County Courthouse

The 105-foot tower with working clocks on four sides augments this beautiful limestone Romanesque Revival courthouse built in 1894. An impressive bronze statue of General James McPherson astride his horse stands on the west side of the square. McPherson, for whom the town was named, was the highest ranking Union officer to die on the battlefield during the Civil War. Veterans memorials also adorn these lovely grounds. Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-5 p.m. (NRHP)
