Lanesfield School
18745 S. Dillie. From 1st, ½ mile east on U.S. 56, ¾ mile north on Sunflower, ½ mile east on 191, then ½ mile north on Dillie. The stone schoolhouse, restored to its 1904 appearance, sits in a quiet rural setting on the townsite of Lanesfield, named for territorial firebrand James Lane. Start in the visitor center (separate building) brimming with informative exhibits about early schools. A costumed tour guide makes a visit here a special experience for all ages.
