Lane County Community High School and Stadium
The high school and stadium, both still in use today, were New Deal projects. The blond-brick high school, built through the Federal Emergency Administration of Public Works in 1936, was designed by Glen Thomas, an architect best known for his stunning work on Wichita North High School. Look for his signature bas-relief panels of carved bison on either side of the entrance, and the striking geometric ornamentation in vivid reds and blues. The native limestone stadium was a 1937 WPA project, built with stone from the former courthouse in Ravanna in nearby Finney County. (NRHP)
