Eureka Santa Fe Depot
It’s heartening to see restoration efforts, and the Santa Fe depot has benefited from just such an effort. The first depot was constructed in 1879, but as the oil and gas boom grew, the town required a larger depot. The current Prairie and Craftsman style brick and stucco depot was built in 1917 on the site of the original. Passenger service to Eureka ended in the 1950s, and freight service in 1971. A private business undertook the restoration and now occupies the very attractive depot. (NRHP)
