Clyde Tombaugh
Clyde Tombaugh is the town's most famous native son. He graduated from Burdett High School in 1925, and in 1930 he was credited with discovering what was thought to be our ninth planet, Pluto. The International Astronomical Union now considers Pluto a dwarf planet, but Tombaugh's efforts were still remarkable. Read more about him and his famous discovery on a historical marker on the west side of town at Maple and Broadway.
