Bunker Hill Cemetery

From 1st, ½ mile north on Winthrop (193), then 1 mile east on Balta. Pawnee Chief Spotted Horse, the first person to be buried in this cemetery, died of pneumonia at Bunker Hill in 1874 as he and his tribe were being escorted from Nebraska to Oklahoma. His father requested that his son be buried in the “White Man’s Burial Ground.” To see his grave, turn east at the first intersection from the cemetery entrance. The gray granite monument is on the right.
