From U.S. 36, 8 miles north on K-266. On this site an early-1800s Pawnee village once comprised 40 earth lodges and 2,000 inhabitants. A museum, which encloses the excavated floor of the largest lodge, features panoramic exhibits and, of special interest, a rare Pawnee sacred bundle. This is the only site in the state dedicated to one of the indigenous tribes and is of major archeological significance. (NRHP)

A tall granite memorial recognizes that Lt. Zebulon Pike came through this area in 1806 and recognized the Pawnee Republic.
