Mine Creek Battlefield State Historic Site

Pleasanton, KS | Linn County

In October 1864 approximately 2,500 Union soldiers routed approximately 7,000 Confederate troops, killing or capturing more than 1,000. It was the only Civil War battle fought on Kansas soil and was one of the largest cavalry engagements of the war. Inside the visitor center Civil War uniforms, weapons, and photographs interpret this historic event. More than two miles of trails with signage provide a close-up view of the battlefield. (NRHP)
