At one of the most fascinating museums in the state, airplanes and airplane-related items help you grasp the vital role Wichita played in the aviation industry. Amelia Earhart, Howard Hughes, and other celebrities walked the halls of this stunning 1935 art deco WPA structure (NRHP) that once housed Wichita's original Municipal Airport. Take the stairs up to the control tower to see actual airplanes built in Wichita and a vast view of the city.
