Jones and Plummer Trail Marker and Scenic Overlook

Around the County, KS | Meade County

From U.S. 54/160 in Meade, 9 ½ miles south and west on K-23. Here a wood-framed sign relates the saga of the Jones and Plummer Trail, which ran from present Oklahoma to Dodge City. It was started in 1874 by buffalo hunters Charles Jones and Joe Plummer to deliver hides to Dodge City and beyond. At this marker, the scenic overlook provides a vast view and wondrous spectacle of craggy canyons.
