Formerly a county shop completed
in 1938 by the WPA,
this adobe building is now
home to an innovative museum
that invites you to experience
this area's history. Of primary
interest are the photos, personal
accounts, and artifacts
examining the 1930s'the
challenges and devastation of
the Dust Bowl juxtaposed with
the boom of the developing gas
industry (8 Wonders of Kansas
History). A sod house and an
Indian encampment relate
stories of the region's pioneers
and American Indians, and
the 1950s display is pure fun.
