The Harper Study and Social Club donated the fountain to the city in 1909. Complete with troughs, it was used as a watering station for 60 years. In 1983 the handsome and detailed fountain was restored and, minus the watering troughs, placed at the center of the downtown intersection. A large brass plaque on the fountain relates its history. One of the original water troughs is now at home in City Park. (RHKP)
