Glen Elder's picturesque old-time downtown square is landscaped with trees, plantings, and old-fashioned streetlamps. You'll also find there is a tiny chapel and a Statue of Liberty replica. The plaque on the Statue of Liberty replica base says that it was donated by Emily Williams Slaven in 1950 to the City of Glen Elder. It then lists her descendants who served in World War II and their spouses.
