The double-block courthouse square includes a memorial band shell, the Kansas Quilt Walk, a synthetic ice rink (winter), a D.A.R. Santa Fe Trail marker and a Civil War statue honoring war veterans. The 1915 statue, an original by sculptor Frederick C. Hibbard, stands atop a base containing several inscribed plaques.
